Image treadmills are designed for budget-minded consumers. Image machines are manufactured by Icon, a world leader in health and fitness equipment.
What We Like
- Affordability: Most Image treadmills cost less than $600 when purchased new. Some newer models are priced in the mid-range.
- Popularity: Since there are plenty of Image treadmills on the market, it’s easy to find a qualified repairperson. Image’s brand recognition also means that the equipment will be easier to sell if you decide to upgrade.
- Heart rate monitor: Most image treadmills are equipped with grip sensors to help exercisers stay in their target heart rate zone.
- Compact size: All Image treadmills can easily be folded for under-the-bed storage.
What We Don’t Like
- Motor: Image motors have between 1.75 and 2.5 HP. Avid runners will probably want a more powerful treadmill.
- Track: Customers have complained of poor cushioning on Image tracks. Also, track sizes of 50” to 55” long may be too short for people with long strides.
- Warranty: Image treadmills are typically sold with 90-day warranties. These are substandard; most treadmills are sold with at least year-long warranties.
Our Verdict
Image treadmills have an attractive price, but the older models’ limited warranties and lower-quality parts make them a shaky investment. The Image Advanced 1400 has received better reviews than earlier models.
