NordicTrack Incline Trainer Review

NordicTrack Incline Trainers are hybrids between regular treadmills and stairclimbers. Exercisers walk on a flat plane, but it can be tilted up to 40% and decline slightly, too. Incline training gets faster results than traditional treadmill training by forcing exercisers to use their muscles differently.

What We Like

Efficient workouts: Incline training enables users to burn up to five times the calories they’d burn with regular walking. NordicTrack machines in particular are endorsed by fitness coach Jillian Michaels of TV’s The Biggest Loser.

On the NordicTrack website, Michaels explains:

At just 25% incline, and 2 mph, you’ll burn 3 times the calories compared to walking on a level surface. When you increase the incline to 40%, you’re burning 5 times the calories, just by walking. That’s why I use it with the contestants on TV. Incline training works, and it’s fast.

Low-impact workouts: By walking on an incline, a walker can achieve results more quickly like a runner, but put less stress on his or her body.

Consoles: NordicTrack trainer consoles come with advanced technologies such as 3D graphics, a mountain trail simulator, iPod-compatible audio ports, and virtual personal training with Jillian Michaels.

Compact design: NordicTrack incline trainers are space-savers when compared with regular treadmills.

Price: Considering their efficiency and luxury features, NordicTrack Incline Trainers are well worth the price of a standard mid-grade treadmill.

What We Don’t Like

Not for running: If you’re interested in steep incline training and treadmill running, then you’ll need more than one exercise machine. Like other incline trainers, NordicTrack models are not suitable for running because of their short track lengths.

Our Verdict

Nordic Track Incline Trainers are excellent options for exercisers who want efficient and low-impact workouts. Extras including 3D graphics, personal training iFit workouts, and great sound systems help keep exercisers motivated for years. However, these machines are generally not suitable for runners because of their shorter tracks.
