What We Like:

  • Ergonomic Design: The special stride support feature and Ground Effects Impact Control System make for an incredibly smooth and natural experience both running and walking. Precor designed this model to include deck features that adapt to your personal stride while keeping the deck sturdy and centred to reduce stress on the joints and increase safety. The deck is perhaps the most attractive feature of this model, built with a durable 1 inch thick phenolic laminated deck and steel crowned rollers to reduce noise (even at higher speeds).
  • Workout Programs: A notable 23 preset workout programs are included on the TRM 445, which includes programs like “Be Fit” (for interval training), “Lose Weight,” “Push Performance,” “Get Toned” (for muscle toning), and “Go the Distance.” There is also an option for a Fitness Test stores your results to set and reach individual fitness goals.
  • Console: The new sleek and slim console features a 7-inch color LCD touchscreen that is both attractive and easy to use. Compatible with Apple devices, users can plug-in for full audio control. Users can also download the Preva mobile app to store and track workout information (the Preva app also provides weekly workout statistics). To change your speed or incline/decline, simply tap the lever motion controls located at the base of the console.
  • Workout Summary Metrics: The TRM 445 includes 12 workout summary metrics ranging from average pace and speed to VO2 Max.
  • Deck: This model features a reversible pre-waxed deck that doesn’t require maintenance.
  • Warranty: Precor offers a lifetime warranty on the frame and an impressive 10 years warranty on parts.

What We Don’t Like:

  • Speed Adjustments: While the lever motion controls make it easy to change speed or incline, it can be difficult for interval training when you need to reach higher or lower speeds and inclines at a more rapid rate. Many treadmills include a “Quick Key” feature, but this model does not.
  • Deck: The running area on this deck is rather short at 56 inches (the average is closer to 60 inches at this price point), but wider at 22 inches (the average is closer to 20 inches). Taller people or people who want to do sprints may not like the shorter running area.
  • No Fan: Granted, it’s not a deal-breaker, but more and more comparable units offer some kind of workout fan for comfort.

Our Verdict:

For $1,000 less, you can get the TRM 425, which has very few differences from this more expensive model. Other than additional personalized user IDs, additional workout programs and a larger LCD screen, there aren’t too many differences between the two machines. However; if you are looking for a durable and reliable treadmill to help you comfortably reach fitness goals, the TRM 445 model is an excellent choice that is both long-lasting and well-designed with attractive comfort features that are hard to beat.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Precor TRM 445 treadmill last?

A good deal of a treadmill's lifespan is dependent on usage and maintenance. That said, with as strong a warranty as this unit has, and the overall weight of the non-folding unit, we feel a solid 10 years or more can be expected given proper care.

Is the Precor TRM 445 treadmill quiet and smooth?

Yes, our experience and that of other reviewers is that this is a relatively smooth and quiet treadmill. All treadmills make some noise, but this unit shouldn't interfere with other members of the household while in use.

What are the main differences between the Precor TRM 445 and the Precor TRM 425?

As a more expensive unit, the Precor TRM 445 comes with 27 workout metrics as opposed to the TRM 425's 13. It also has 39 built-in programs as opposed to 10. The TRM 445 also features a 7" full color LCD screen over the TRM 425's 5" high contrast LCD.

How is Precor Fitness's customer service and support?

Precor Fitness customer service has maintained a strong showing even amidst a global pandemic. Nearly all manufacturers have been criticized with labor shortages and supply chains affected, yet Precor has somehow managed to continue to earn high marks in this area.

Is the Precor TRM 445 treadmill easy to assemble?

The term "easy" is a relative term when assembling a treadmill. Having friends or family help is advised as this is a large, 358-pound, non-folding unit. That said, instructional videos are available online and we've found that the parts do go together quite intuitively.
