Ironman Treadmill Review

Brand Rating: 4.0/10

Ironman treadmills are manufactured by Keys Fitness. Keys also owns and produces the Alliance, CardioMax, and HealthTrainer treadmill lines. Since the company filed for bankruptcy in 2008, potential customers are advised that customer support might be unreliable. However, most Ironman treadmills get great reviews.

What We Like

  • Cost: Ironman treadmills are ideal for those with low to moderate budgets.
  • Motors: Some units have 3.0 HP motors, and the Ironman M6 has an impressive 6.0 HP motor. Treadmills with strong motors can stand up to frequent use and high speed running.
  • Consoles: Standard Ironman consoles have all the basics that treadmill users expect, plus some special features such as body fat monitors. Ironman treadmills with built-in TVs and MP3 players are especially popular.
  • Tracks: The Inspire Ironman, one of the newest models, has a roomy 60” running track.
  • Warranties: Some Ironman treadmills are sold with 10-year or even lifetime warranties. However, customers should make sure that any warranties will remain in effect in light of Keys Fitness’s bankruptcy filing.
  • Portability: Many Ironman models fold for storage and are lightweight for easy moving.

What We Don’t Like

  • Company bankruptcy: As mentioned above, the company’s financial status might bring unreliable customer service.
  • Cheaper models: Customers have reported that the lower-end Ironman models are not as sturdy as the more expensive Ironman models. These models also have less powerful motors.

Our Verdict

Ironman treadmills are relatively basic machines that may be ideal for the beginning or intermediate runner. They receive high marks for motor power, special features, and generous warranties. However, the parent company’s financial troubles might make it difficult for customers to obtain machine parts or repairs in the future.

Hi Bernie, it doesn't appear that Key's Fitness (the manufacturer) has a direct contact line. We recommend using a local service in your area that sells fitness equipment who may carry this line of treadmills and may be able to offer parts to correct the issue with this machine. We hope we can help you fix this so you can continue using it.
