LiveStrong 12.9T (Discontinued)

LiveStrong treadmills are manufactured by Johnston Health Tech, a Wisconsin-based company with more than 30 years of experience producing fitness equipment. LiveStrong’s home treadmills are endorsed by the professional biker Lance Armstrong, and a percentage of profits are donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which advocates for cancer survivors.

The LiveStrong 12.9T is one of the brand’s top treadmills. It retails for $1299.

What We Like

  • Motor: The 12.9T’s powerful 3.0 CHP motor is backed by a lifetime warranty. It supports speeds up to 12 mph.
  • Workout programs: The LiveStrong 12.9 treadmill’s 14 built-in workout programs provide a lot of variety to help keep workouts interesting. A speed interval program, a program simulating rolling hills, and a target heart rate program are just some of the options. Users can also create their own programs in “manual” mode. Progress can easily be tracked with the Livetrack Fitness Journal, which helps users to set and achieve both short-term and long-term fitness goals.
  • Entertainment: The 12.9T includes an iPod-compatible port and built-in speakers.
  • Incline: This machine’s 14% incline capability is especially steep for a home treadmill and helps exercisers to burn calories more efficiently than when walking on a flat plane.
  • Track: The LiveStrong 12.9T has a long 60”x20” deck, and its patented MaxComfort System provides differential cushioning to balance support and shock absorption.
  • Warranties: LiveStrong shows confidence in the 12.9T by including a lifetime warranty for the motor and frame, a five-year warranty on other parts, and free in-home labor during the first two years of ownership.

What We Don’t Like

  • LiveStrong treadmills have only been on the market since 2009, so one can only guess whether the machines will endure over the long run. The company’s elliptical products have already been subject to recall. Still, the excellent warranty package on the 12.9T should instill buyer confidence.

Our Verdict

The LiveStrong 12.9 treadmill gets strong reviews for great basics such as a powerful motor and a long track, and the Livetrack Fitness Journal helps exercisers to meet their goals. Topped off with a generous warranty package, the 12.9 looks like a great investment. It shares many features with the top-of-the-line model, the LiveStrong 16.9T. People who need a higher weight capacity or premium speakers might prefer the 16.9T, but for many exercisers, the 12.9 would provide a better value.

My treadmill powers on goes to the functions, incline works but the belt is not engaging to start. It worked up until 2 days ago. Not sure why it stopped.
