ProForm Performance 400 (Folding)

Editor's Rating: 7.1/10
This model has been discontinued.

The discontinued 400 is the entry-level treadmill in a series that also includes the Performance 600, 900, and 1450 models. While the Performance 400 has 15 built-in workouts and iFit Live compatibility, the pricier models have even more workout options and higher-quality components. This unit has a 300-pound user weight capacity.

What We Like

  • SpaceSaver design: All treadmills in the ProForm Performance series can easily be folded to save space.
  • Track: The 55”x20” track is cushioned for shock absorption and comfort. With the touch of a button, it can be inclined by up to 10%.
  • Workout programs: Fifteen built-in workouts include five calorie-burn, five timed, and five distance routines. Additionally, the machine is wired for iFit Live and a NikePlus.com fitness app. Using a wireless Internet connection, a treadmill user can run along “Powered by Google Maps™” trails, virtually train with Jillian Michaels, and otherwise enhance the effectiveness and enjoyment of treadmill exercise.
  • Heart monitor: Pulse sensors are included on the handlebars.
  • Audio capability: The 400 accepts an MP3 player and has an Intermix Acoustics 2.0 speaker set.
  • Warranty package: Customers get a lifetime frame warranty, a 25-year motor warranty, and one year of parts and labor.

What We Don’t Like

  • Motor: The 2.25 CHP motor isn’t all that impressive. It has an axial fan to extend its running time, but it doesn’t support serious running or operate very quietly. The treadmill’s top speed is 10 mph. For comparison, the top-of-the-line ProForm Performance 1450 has a 3.25 CHP motor that comes with a lifetime warranty.

Our Verdict

With iFit Live compatibility, 15 built-in workouts, and a built-in sound system, the reasonably priced ProForm Performance 400 is recommended to walkers and joggers who aren’t very tall. Others should consider buying a more advanced ProForm such as the Performance 1450 (which has a 60” track and a touchscreen) or possibly a treadmill from Sole.

If I have a problem with my Pro Form who do I contact? There is no one where I live who services treadmills.
