All new for 2013, the ProForm Power 1080i treadmill is a meaningful step up from the Power 1080. This current best seller is distinguished primarily by the inclusion of an iFit module. iFit workouts automatically adjust the treadmill to simulate real terrain! The Power 1080i can incline up to 15% like the 1080, but it also will decline by 3%. Furthermore, 32 workouts are preloaded. Some other upgrades from the Power 1080 include a slightly more durable frame and a quick 15% incline. A generous warranty helps make the Power 1080i a smart centerpiece for your home fitness room.

What We Like

  • Workout programs and iFit Live: The Power 1080i treadmill has literally unlimited program variety. First, 32 workouts designed by a certified personal trainer are built into the console. Each program is quick-start. You simply choose from preset goals for time, calories or distance. Second, iFit Live is available (annual membership required) for those who’d like to download additional programs, watch workout videos, participate in online races and chart interactive workouts with Google Maps.
  • Console: A 10” oversized backlit display makes for a better exercise experience. If you activate iFit this is where you’ll view high-definition videos. Here you can also measure progress by following the RaceTrack graphic. Speed, time, distance and calories burned are all displayed in the large backlit window.
  • Track: The running surface measures 60”x20” and has ProShox Cushioning to reduce the impact of running on your joints by up to 28% compared with asphalt. For longevity, ProForm set the track on 2.5” rollers.
  • Incline & decline: Challenge your muscles and condition your heart! The Power 1080i treadmill has a 15% incline and 3% decline. You can quickly change the settings with the console controls or follow a preset program.
  • Motor: This treadmill has the same commercial-grade 3.25 CHP Mach Z™ Commercial Pro Motor as the ProForm 1080, but in this case it has a lifetime warranty.
  • High speed: Run like the wind! This treadmill can accelerate to 12 mph and will power through long runs.
  • Audio: Listen to music or podcasts as you work out. You’ll get an iPod port built right into the console. The audio streams through two 2” speakers by Intermix Acoustics.
  • Compact design: Like other ProForm home treadmills, the Power 1080i has a SpaceSaver design: It folds vertically for storage.
  • Great warranty: This unit is sold with a lifetime warranty on the frame and motor, a five-year warranty on parts, and two years of labor.

What We Don’t Like

  • Price: This product’s MSRP is too high. We wouldn’t spend $2499 on this treadmill, but the sale price of $1299 is just right.

Our Verdict

Five stars go to the new ProForm! We were almost won over by this model’s predecessor, the Power 1080. We said that all it needed was a longer parts warranty. The new Power 1080i not only has a longer warranty, it has a 3% decline, two additional workouts and a 10″ oversized backlit display. The frame of the Power 1080i is also slightly more durable, a factor that matters if you’re approaching the maximum weight capacity. This treadmill has everything you need and is now selling at a deep discount online.
