The ProForm home treadmill brand is a better-quality discount line manufactured by ICON, who also makes NordicTrack and Epic treadmills. The treadmill review of the ProForm XT90 found that it is the more advanced treadmill in ProForm’s ProShox Series. It’s especially designed for people who want to train on a constant incline for more efficient calorie-burning and toning.

What We Like

  • Incline: With the ProForm XT90’s unusually steep 20% incline, treadmill users can burn calories and tone their bodies more efficiently than they can with regular treadmill inclines. However, only two inclines are possible: 10% and 20%.
  • Workout programs: Sixteen workout programs for walkers, joggers, and runners are built into the XT90’s console. The treadmill is also loaded with iFit Live and 20 personal trainer workouts. iFit Live’s wireless technology lets users download new workouts, compete in races with their online friends, and more easily track personal progress.
  • Audio capability: The XT90’s rich Intermix Acoustics 2.0 sound system can play MP3s and is iPod-compatible.
  • Track cushioning: ProForm’s patented ProShox system can be adjusted to 24 intensity levels, and patented ProTech cushioning reduces impact on the joints by up to 15% compared with road running.
  • Motor: ProForm advertises its motors as being more powerful than others that have the same horsepower rating. The XT90’s 2.0 motor has an axial fan that reduces noise while helping to extend the motor’s life. Since the motor is sold with a lifetime warranty, this seems to be a good deal – especially for people who will primarily be using the treadmill for walking.
  • Warranty: ProForm’s Power Series treadmills come with great warranties. With the XT90, customers get a lifetime frame warranty, a lifetime motor warranty, two years on other parts, and a year of labor.

What We Don’t Like

  • Track: The treadmill’s 55”x18” treadbelt is smaller than standard treadbelts, which are 20” wide. Also, it might not be long enough for taller exercisers to use.

Our Verdict

The ProForm XT90 review provides an especially efficient workout with its 10% and 20% inclines. Customers also get rich, equalized audio and entertaining iFit Live personal training programs. The addition of iFit Live makes this a worthwhile upgrade over the ProForm XT70. However, it shares drawbacks with the earlier model: a small track and the lack of several different inclines.
