Yowza Fitness manufactures two non-folding treadmills: the Smyrna and the Juno. The Juno model is the more affordable of the two. Compared with the Smyrna, it has a lower top speed (10 mph versus 11 mph). It also has a shorter track (55” instead of 60”) and a less powerful motor (2.5 HP versus 3.0 HP). Still, the Juno is more than adequate for many walkers and light runners.

What We Like

  • Motor: The Juno’s 2.5 HP continuous duty motor provides enough power for frequent walking and light running. However, heavier users and those who prefer running to walking might upgrade to the Smyrna’s 3.0 HP motor.
  • Console: The Juno’s ergonomically designed console has a quick start button, single-touch resistance adjustment, and quick speed/incline control buttons. You’ll also find cup holders, hi-fidelity speakers, an iPod dock, and a 3-speed fan. A grip pulse monitor and wireless heart rate monitors are included too.
  • Deck: With triple phenolic lamination, the reversible Yowza Juno deck is designed for a lifetime of virtually maintenance-free use. The floating deck with elastomer rings provides great shock absorption. Variable cushioning provides firmer support when users push off the track, and a softer spot where they land.
  • Warranty: Yowza’s excellent standard warranty includes: a lifetime guarantee on the motor and frame; 5 years on parts; and 2 years of in-home labor. Additional service plans are offered for a fee.

What We Don’t Like

  • Track: The Juno track is 55”x20”. This is wide enough for most users, but taller exercisers might find that it shortens their running stride.
  • Weight limit: The Juno’s weight capacity is 300 pounds. Yowza’s three other treadmill models can support up to 350 pounds.

Our Verdict

The Juno treadmill combines important exercise basics – a cushioned track and adequate motor — with the entertainment of an iPod deck and speaker system. This is Yowza’s simplest treadmill, but it will satisfy all but the most serious trainers and users with more heft. Like all Yowza treadmills, it’s sold with a best-in-class warranty package.
