The ProForm home treadmill brand is a better-quality discount line manufactured by ICON, who also makes NordicTrack and Epic treadmills. The ProForm XT 70 is the entry-level treadmill in ProForm’s ProShox Series, and the XT 90 is the next step up.

What We Like

  • Workout programs: Sixteen workout programs for walkers, joggers, and runners are built into the XT70’s console. The treadmill can also be used with iFit Live, which is sold separately. iFit Live’s wireless technology lets users compete with their online friends, virtually experience famous trails, and more easily track personal progress.
  • Audio capability: The XT70’s iPod-compatible audio port and rich Intermix Acoustics 2.0 sound system help to keep exercisers entertained.
  • Track cushioning: ProForm’s patented ProShox cushioning can be adjusted to 24 intensity levels.
  • Incline: With an unusually steep 20% incline, users can burn calories and tone their bodies more efficiently than they can with regular treadmill inclines. However, only two inclines are possible: 10% and 20%.
  • Warranty: ProForm’s Power Series treadmills come with great warranties. With the XT70, customers get a lifetime frame warranty, a lifetime motor warranty, two years on other parts, and a year of labor.

What We Don’t Like

  • Motor: The XT70’s 1.75 motor is intended for walkers and joggers, but not for regular runners.
  • Track: The treadmill’s 55” x 18” treadbelt is smaller than standard treadbelts, which are 20” wide. Also, it might not be long enough for taller exercisers to use.

Our Verdict

The ProForm XT70 is an entry-level workout machine intended for smaller users. With the XT70, customers get good audio and iFit Live compatibility, but a weak motor and small track. Also, the two-position incline might not provide enough variety for some users.

Potential XT70 customers should check out ProForm’s other treadmills for stronger motors and better overall value. People who are drawn to the treadmill’s 20% incline might want to check out incline trainers, too.
